Bucket Rides

At our local theme park there are many rides, but the one that I hate the most is the spinning cups. One sits in a big tea cup - it can hold up to 4 people. It spins around on its axis whilst simultaneously moving around a big cirlcle. I always feel very nauseaus on it and for a good while after. However I imagine that if we took Matt he would love it. Here are some photos of his new favourite activity with dad.

First I climb into this small bucket that my mom uses for laundry.

Right! I am ready to go!!

Dad likes to push me forward and backwards - it makes me laugh with joy!

And then I spin from side to side - hilarious!

The best part is the rocking - to and fro, forwards and backwards, Yee ha!

When we have both had enough (usually dad has had enough before me) then I get to clamber out and play with the bucket on my own.

Oh Jacqui that is so precious! Therapy and play (but he doesn't have to know about the therapy part!)

Looks like a game Noah would love. You have given me some good ideas lately. He looks adorable.

Ooh! When the bucket becomes to "tame" for your adventurer, try a Bilibo!

There is no flat bottom, so it can be a little wilder, less stable, but something tells me he'll be up for it eventually...

What fun.

What a great way to teach him balance! I had to do this with Austin because after he learned to sit, I had to teach him how to fall over. He didn't have the reflex to put his arms out to catch himself. I had to lightly push him over and move his hands to catch himself. Great fun with the bucket!

This looks like SO much fun! Great for joint attention and interaction - you could even add a bit of a speech routine... count 1,2,3 GO! or Ready, set GO! and make a sound effect for the spinning part (e.g. weeeeee!). Once he is used to the routine, interrupt it or delay the GO! or the 'weeeee', pause and see if Matt may attempt to participate. Or let him initiate it by making eye contact or clapping his hands.
PS. Those spinning tea cups always made me feel so ill! Matt looks a natural!
